Finding The Right Cat Bed For Your Kitty
I am sure that like me, you love a clean comfortable bed. I am also sure that if you have a cat or cats, you know that they love your clean comfortable bed. How many times have you woken up to the feel of something pinning you down in your bed? Or – how many times have you woken up to a furry paw in your face or a whiskered face staring at you? Those of you with cats know exactly what this is like. Frankly I did not mind my cats sleeping with me, however, when I got married, my husband was not amused. I knew that I had to do something or else I was never going to get any sleep with all the howling and scratching at the bedroom door (from the cats – not my husband).
Cats spend most of their time curled up and asleep. If you or your partner is fed up with your cat sleeping in your bed or on your couch and leaving fur everywhere or you want to give your cats a space of their own, a cat bed is your best option. Also, unless they are very young kittens, each cat needs a bed of its own. Before you purchase a bed for your cat, there are things that you should consider.
Size - Knowing the size of your cat is an important consideration. Cats need a little room to stretch and be comfortable. However, if the cat bed is too big your cat may feel less secure. Simply measure your cat from head to tail and add a few inches to insure a snuggly fit for your kitty.
Comfort – There are tons of fantastic options for you to choose from. They come in different forms, structures and materials. The most popular shapes are round or tubular tumble beds. Cat beds that have a fleece, sherpa or thermal cushion material will keep your cat warm and comfortable especially during winter.
Durability- Make sure that your cat bed is made of durable materials to prevent it from being easily scratched or torn. Choose ones that are washable or at least have a removable and washable cover. You do not want your kitty to sleep in a smelly bed. Like you, cats enjoy a clean bed. A clean cat bed will also help prevent parasites, allergens and odors.
Remember that cat beds can keep our cats warm, cozy and comfortable, keep our furniture fur free and give couples one less thing to fight about.

About the Author
Momo and Bunny are our two cats (they asked that we not use their real names). Both were rescued from the streets of Brooklyn, NY and now live in the idyllic hills of the lower Hudson Valley, NY. Momo is a ginger and white long haired-bushy tailed guy with a will of steel and a vengeful streak. Bunny is a stubborn little multicolored short haired domestic girl who loves butterflies and helping me water the plants. Both, to their chagrin, are now indoor-only cats. While both Momo and Bunny love my husband, they are both mommy's cats. In fact, because I rescued Momo 6 years before I got married, Momo thought he was the only man in my life and did not take it well when he realized that my husband was here to stay. Bunny, on the other hand does not mind my husband, but she much prefers my lap to his.
Because our cats have sharp claws and short attention spans, we are always looking for cat scratching posts, perches, beds and toys to keep them occupied. I have been a pretty prolific internet shopper for about 10 years now and as a cat parent, I think our adorable fluff balls are a little neglected both online and at brick and mortar stores. Yes, I am seeing a lot more cat products online than I used to; however, canine products are far more prevalent. I am always looking for useful and fun products for my little ones.
